Timber Framed Houses, Extensions and Garden Rooms
We specialise in the design, build and installation of traditional or contemporary heavy timber frame and post & beam structures in Devon and Cornwall. The ancient art of jointed and pegged timber, combined with modern energy efficient detailing results in homes of intrinsic beauty, natural warmth and enduring character. Most of our domestic projects are entirely bespoke.

Green Oak timber framed house extension- Lostwithiel, Cornwall
This green oak timber framed extension to a beautiful Victorian house on the Duchy Estate at Lostwithiel was a commission for the Duchy of Cornwall.

Green Oak timber frame sling brace extension in Devon
This was a two storey timber framed extension to a barn conversion in Devon.
The timber frame, made from locally grown green oak sawmilled in our yard, had sling braced trusses to provide usable headroom in the upper floor.
The project provided a sympathetic extension to a historic Devonshire building originally serving the nearby manganese mine.
Green Oak timber framed bungalow extension, Devon
This is a green oak extension which brought space, light and character to a bungalow renovation in Devon.
The green oak timber frame was surrounded by a softwood studwork ‘envelope’ of
highly energy efficient insulation.
This method allows for easy fixing of doors and windows and does not require the more complex glazing system needed if glazing is applied direct to the green oak timber frame.
Green Oak timber framed garden room extension in Devon
This garden room was built onto the back of a former water mill in Devon. The extension provides a cosy living space and brought light to a typically dark cottage.
The roof was hipped to allow for continued use of an upstairs window.
With double glazing, a wood burner and good roof insulation, the room is warm and welcoming all year.
