Our Framing Yard
Our workshop and framing yard are based at Philleigh Farm in Bere Alston, Devon. This is on the Devon/Cornwall border in the beautiful Tamar Valley. Most of the Douglas Fir we use is sustainably grown in the Tamar Valley within about a mile of our workshop and most of our Oak comes from commercial managed forestry in Devon or Cornwall where active forestry management plans are in place utilising sound silvicultural practice.
The Tamar Valley AONB is a landscape shaped by the rivers Tamar, Tavy and Lynher, located on the Devon & Cornwall border. The area is famous for it’s mining heritage landscape and market gardening history, and is a haven for wildlife. If you are visiting our workshop, you may also like to investigate the attractions that this beautiful valley offers.
We are very happy to invite visitors, by appointment to our workshop. Just get in touch by phone or email to arrange a visit.
We are on a working farm and appropriate footwear is wellies or boots rather than polished shoes!
Our ethos is to embrace as many environmentally friendly practices as we possibly can. We champion the use of local renewable responsibly grown natural building materials and building future proofed highly insulated healthy homes from these natural materials.
Our small farm is also managed using ‘beyond organic’ biologically regenerative methods to improve soil health and plant diversity, increase soil carbon sequestration, raise content livestock and produce healthy, nutrient rich food.
